5. You will need to do an audio recording of your teaching a portion of a live seminar to complete certification process.
6. The fee is currently the same for taking this live training or the long distance version which is $675.

Steps for Non Brain Gym Persons wanting to be certified

1. Steps 1 to 6 above apply
2. You must also do a video of your doing the Brain Gym Movements for me to review
3. You have to take a Brain Gym 101 Class as part of your Certification

More Benefits From Listening And Playing Music

Researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine found that emotions aroused by joyful music cause tissue in the inner lining of blood vessels to expand, increasing blood flow.

Other studies have shown that music can bring on sound sleep, boost mood and reduce anxiety.

Listening to music will also help surgery patients feel less pain and need less pain medication while they are recovering.

According to Nina Kraus, director of the Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory, even after a few years of musical training, children have more powerful brainstem responses to complex sounds than peers who never had lessons. These neural changes are retained into adulthood.

Using this music concept in Los Angeles with at-risk youths who attend schools in gang-reduction zones, the kids take music lessons and participate in ensembles.

Rather than winding up in jail, these kids are staying in school and they are completing their education.

So…turn that music on and take music lessons and remember to save your hearing if you are using ear buds by limiting your listening time to an hour and then give yourself a break.

Cutting Back On Teachers – Seeing The Outcome

The High Cost of Low Teacher Salaries…

I don’t usually include politically oriented blurbs in The Teplitz Email report, however, this one may have a long-term affect on the health of teachers and students.

Just listen to the amount of stress that teachers have coming at them.

The quote below was written by Harriet Vines, Ph.D., Age Smart Associates.

“After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said:

          'Let me see if I've got this right. You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.

          You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self-esteem and personal pride...

          You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.

          You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.

          You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.

          You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.

Maybe as a country we need to look closer at the decisions we are making on where to cut the deficit?

The Power Of A Pencil To Reduce Test Anxiety?

You might be saying, “Uh,
how can a pencil reduce test anxiety?”

Well, a study reported in the journal Science found that students who spend 10 minutes before an exam writing about their thoughts and feelings can free up brainpower by focusing on their worries and fears.

The researchers found that students who were prone to test anxiety improved their test grades by nearly one grade point simply by writing about their feelings before the exam. So…anyone still own a pencil sharpener?
