Antibiotics May Be Hurting Your Memory

Antibiotics may be hurting your memory ability. You go to the doctor for a cold and the doc gives you an antibiotic to take even though your cold was caused by a virus and antibiotic drugs don’t kill viruses. The problem is taking the antibiotic drug also kills the good bacteria in your gut.

You might be saying, “No big deal”. Well, it actually is a very big deal. The antibiotic may also be inhibiting the growth of new cells in the part of the brain associated with memory. The researchers believe that the antibiotic is causing this damage by lowering levels of a type of white blood cell that is thought to connect the gut, brain and immune system.

So…what you need to do if you can’t avoid taking the antibiotic for an infection, as these researchers suggest, is to take a probiotic supplement at the same time as the antibiotic. Keep taking the supplement for several weeks after the surgery to keep developing and feeding the good bacteria.

Becoming Bacteria Free Is Not Such A Good Idea

The average preschooler carries around 1 to 2 pounds of bacteria - about 5% of his or her body weight. These bacteria have 3.5 billion years of experience in resisting and surviving environmental challenges. In addition, there are many bacteria that are beneficial to our system. So-the idea of creating a germ-free environment won't solve our problems. Germs and bacteria also serve a valuable function. They help to stimulate and train our immune system to fight back. So-if you have kids think twice before you jump into giving them antibiotics. You can search my prior Teplitz Email Reports for natural options when your kids are sick. Stopping Antibiotic Resistance

As you may know, strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics is becoming more and more of a danger. We are losing the benefit of many of the drugs that have been effective against diseases. One of the key ways this resistance is being spread is through the use of antibiotics the raising of commercial poultry and livestock. The Government Accounting Office has called this situation "an unacceptable risk to the public health."

There is a way out of this mess and the damage can even be reversed! A report from the World Health Organization reveals a decline in bacterial resistance in Denmark after most feed uses for drugs were banned in 1998. An Environmental Defense scientist, Dr. Rebecca Goldberg thinks that the elimination of drugs gives bacteria that had been nonresistant to drugs an advantage in survival over the drug resistant strains. Therefore, bacterial resistance declines to our drugs.

Now we need to get this message to the government regulators.

EAR INFECTIONS? DON'T GIVE KIDS ANTIBIOTICS

In Prevention magazine it was reported that 70 to 90% of children's ear infections will naturally clear if given time. In this study they had 179 kids ages 1 to 12. The researchers found that 2 out of every 3 infections cleared without antibiotics. Their suggestion is to first get ear drops that bring immediate pain relief and then wait 48 hours before starting antibiotics.

REDUCING KIDS NEEDS FOR ANTIBIOTICS

Dr. John Thie found two food concentrates that when taken daily reduce the need for antibiotics in children. They work even with children who were almost continually on them. The products are called Vitagard and Nec-C. Since they're a food concentrate, they can't hurt your children.

The Good Bacteria In Our Gut Is More Powerful That We’ve Thought

yummyyogurtThe good bacteria in our system deserves even more respect. As you probably know, because of the overuse of antibiotics we’ve been developing antibiotic resistant pathogens.

Researchers reported in Infection and Immunity that certain strains of probiotic bacteria may help benefit the immune system.

The researchers compared two groups of mice who were injected with an antibiotic-resistant strain of harmful bacteria. One group was given the probiotic Barnesiella. The mice not given the Barnesiella were unable to clear out the antibiotic resistant pathogens.

So…getting more probiotics into your diet by using Keifer and Yogurt might help you fight off dangerous bacteria.

Using Blue Light To Heal Without Antibiotics

bluehealBecause of overuse of antibiotics, we’ve been enabling the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as, MRSA.

People in hospitals can become infected with MRSA and might die from the complication since there are no good defenses available.

Well, that may be changing with the publication of a study by Massachusetts General Hospital. In the study, the researchers
used blue light to stop infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in lab animals.

Until they started using the blue light the bacteria was beginning to overpower the immune system.

When the animals were treated with blue light, all of the inflected animals treated with the light survived, while 82% of the controls died.

In another study, blue light has been shown to eradicate 90% of the strains of MRSA within minutes of exposure to the light.

Using blue light has been approved by the FDA years ago for the treatment of severe acne. So…we may have an easy way out with all the antibiotic-resistant bugs developing.

Stop Taking Antibiotics Before Common Dental Procedures

According to the American Medical Association, there is no proof that antibiotics taken before common dental procedures, including extractions, prevent heart infections by preventing bacteria from getting into the bloodstream.

Instead, the risks of side effects from the drugs and from your developing antibiotic resistance outweigh the benefits.

The only exceptions are for people who have already had heart infections (called endocarditis), have artificial heart valves, or other serious heart-related health problems.

So…if your dentist offers drugs (the antibiotic kind) and you don’t have any of those problems, say thank you, but no thank you.
