Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Linked To Virus

Researchers reported in the Journal of Medical Virology that they found traces of a virus in the skeletal muscles of people with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. They found no traces in healthy people. The researchers believe that a persistent infection caused by the virus may explain these conditions.

Since drugs don't work on viruses, you'll need to look at herbal help to stop a virus in its tracks. Here are some of the things you can use: Echinacea and Astragalus.

Exercise and Talking For Fibromyalgia Relief

Researchers at the University of Missouri-Columbia compared drug and nondrug treatments by analyzing 49 studies involving 2,066 people. They found that people who used regular physical activity and cognitive behavioral therapy which involves substituting positive thoughts and feelings for negative ones felt less pain and fatigue and performed daily tasks more easily than those taking just drugs.

So…if you know someone with fibromyalgia suggest they do walking, swimming, yoga 30 minutes every other day. Also suggest they experiment with cognitive behavioral therapy or a half an hour of meditation five or six times a week.

FIBROMYALGIA MAY BE A VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY

In Dr. Julian Whitaker's newsletter, he wrote that Dr. Michael Holick reported that 40% to 60% of all fibromyalgia cases are misdiagnosed and may actually be a Vitamin D deficiency. What the person may have instead is the equivalent of adult rickets, which is a Vitamin D deficiency.

The symptoms of both fibromyalgia and Vitamin D deficiencies are very similar. There's an easy way to find out which it really is. Ask you doctor to order a blood test for 25(OH)D. If your levels are low you might want to talk to your doctor about taking very high doses of Vitamin D in the range of 2,000 to 4,000 IUs of Vitamin D per day. (To reach a toxic level of Vitamin D, you'd have to be taking 50,000 IUs per day.)

Using Yoga And Tai Chi To Reduce The Effects Of Fibromyalgia

A study from the Comprehensive Pain Center at Oregon Health and Science University found that women with fibromyalgia who attended a 2-hour weekly yoga program and practiced the poses at home for 20 to 40 minutes a day experienced a 31% drop in symptoms, including pain and fatigue.
This study shows the importance of doing yoga both in class and also at home.
With Tai Chi, Tufts University researchers found that doing Tai Chi improved the ability of women with fibromyalgia to sleep better and reduced the pain and depression from the disease.
In both studies the researchers think that it’s both the controlled breathing and movements that are interrupting the pain cycle.
My thought is it could also be the attitude of the mind that develops when you do these two approaches.
