A Pill To Enhance Memory Brought To You By Jellyfish

There’s now a pill made from a substance in Jellyfish that is improving memory. The substance is called apoaequorin and it is found in only one species of Jellyfish. It works differently in the brain from other memory enhancers.

While it seems to actually reverse some of the effects of aging on the brain, it also seems to help alleviate the effects of serious neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Three researchers received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work with apoaequorin to track calcium activity in the body’s cells. This initial work has been taken further and it’s been found that apoaequorin also has a powerful protective effect on brain cells.

One study with 56 people from 20 to 78 showed significant improvements in memory after taking 10 mg of Prevagen (the brand name) daily for 30 days. Fifty percent reported gains in general memory and information retention. One-third did better in recall and a whopping 84% showed improvement in their ability to remember driving directions (wives love this impact on their husbands!).

Other benefits that have been reported include users feeling mentally sharper, having more mental energy and even sleeping more soundly.

If you don’t notice improvements in four weeks, you might need to increase your dosage to 20 mg daily. Also, since Jellyfish are a different species, people with fish or shellfish can use it. So…thank you Jellyfish for have a beneficial use besides stinging people!
