Supplements That Fight Colon Cancer

The vitamin folate has been shown to stop cancers where they first start which is at the DNA level. New research from UCLA found that vitamin B6 is necessary for folate to become a more effective cancer fighter. In this study of 1,000 people, those who had colorectal polyps removed and added folate to their diets had a reduction of recurrences of 39%. With the addition of vitamin B6 the risk went down another 35%.

To stop the growth of polyps when they are discovered you need to be taking 1,200 mg per day of calcium carbonate. This study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that the people taking calcium supplements had a 2/3 reduction in growth. The most profound impact was on advanced polyps. So…make sure your multivitamin has folate and vitamin B6 in it to stop the polyp from starting and take extra calcium to stop those that start to grow.
