Why A High Protein Diet Works

There's a new understanding of why a high protein diet works. Research published in Prevention reported a study conducted at Yale University where 12 women were given one of three liquid lunches that had the same calories. One liquid lunch was pure protein, one was pure carbohydrate and one was a mixed drink that contained both. At dinner, each person ate alone in a room and had access to an all-you-can-eat buffet. The women who consumed the high-protein lunch ate 31% fewer calories from the buffet than the high-carbohydrate group. The people who had the mixed drink cut their calories 20%.

Since the key to successful dieting, is to cut calories, a high-protein lunch will let you do that without your feeling deprived. So...eat protein at lunch and then enjoy what you select at dinner.
