Teens May Actually Not be Completely Responsible

MRI brain scans were performed on healthy children and teens in order to track the way the brain matures from ages 5 to 20. The National Institute of Mental Health and the UCLA researchers found that a "higher-order" brain center, such as the prefrontal cortex, doesn't fully develop until young adulthood. This means reasoning and other "executive" functions are the last to mature. So...when your teenager is being unreasonable, it may be because reasoning hasn't come online in that part of the brain yet. Just hope they'll hit 19 or 20 real soon.
