FILLING YOUR CAR WITH GAS? BE CAREFUL

The Petroleum Equipment Institute reports that static electricity at gas pumps can cause fires. Of 150 cases caused by static electricity, almost all of them involved women drivers. It seems that women get back into the car while the nozzle is still pumping. When they got out and pulled the nozzle out, the fire started from the static.

To prevent the static charge from happening:

Never get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas.
If you have to get out of the car make sure you touch a piece of the metal before pulling the nozzle out. This way the static electricity will be discharged
