A study by Duke University Medical Center compared the effects of aerobic exercise with drugs for major depression.
The researchers had 156 volunteers do a 4-month course of aerobic exercise, antidepressant medications or both.
While all showed improvement in the first four months, after 10 months, the exercisers had a significantly lower relapse rate than the medicated group.
The patients who continued to exercise after the 4-months extended their positive results. So…lace those sneakers up and get moving!
