What’s in Real Food…It’s Actually a Mystery

So, you think you can look at the back of label on a food product that is actually healthy for you and tell all about what’s in it and how helpful it can be to your body.

Sorry, that’s not a true statement! And this realization comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. That agency has estimated that 99% of the components making up whole foods are a complete mystery to them. They do know what 188 nutritional components in the food are, including 38 flavonoids.

Scientists estimate there are more than 26,000 different biochemicals in our food.

You read that right 26,000!

It’s even worse when you look at processed and synthetic foods that claim to be what they call “equivalent to whole foods”. The scientists don’t even know what’s in 85% of the whole food to know if the processed food is really the equivalent of anything at all.

So, the label on the fake meat or other product might say on the label that it has all the same nutrients as in the real deal, you now know that they’re just making it up.

It gets even crazier - a May 2023 report by the Food and Agriculture Organization concluded there are at least 53 potential health hazards associated with lab-grown meat, including the possibility of contamination with heavy metals, microplastics, nano plastics and chemicals, allergenic additives, toxic components, antibiotics and prions (that’s what’s involved with mad cow disease!)

So…on the positive side, eating whole foods is giving you more than 26,000 biochemicals to keep your system running on all cylinders and that’s from just one type of whole foods. As an example, if you eat a variety of fresh veggies, you can multiply the 26K by say 6 different foods that are on your dinner plate 26,000 you’re consuming tens of thousands of different chemicals to help your body flourish.

So…whole and wholesome foods anyone??!!!
