Are There Options for Children Suffering With Autism?

Autism has become an epidemic in this country! Back in the 1060s, the autism rate was 1 in 10,000. You read that right – 1 in 10,000. Over the years it has shot up to where it’s now 1 in 44 for 8-year-olds!

During this period of time, pesticides and chemicals in our foods and the environment have grown tremendously, and the pesticide Glyphosate appears to be a leading contributor to children developing autism.

What can a parent do to help a child diagnosed with autism?

According to an October 2020 scientific review in the journal Seminars in Pediatric Neurology, there is evidence implicating mitochondria in the development of autism. Research in 2007 found that mitochondrial abnormalities may be involved in as many as 80% of autism cases. For these kids, their mitochondria are overactive.

There are two approaches that seem to help these children. One is using L-Carnitine supplements and the other is the ketogenic diet.

Four studies have found on the ketogenic diet that 18% of the kids had significant improvement, 40% reported moderate improvement and 32% had mild improvement. Only 8% experienced a worsening of their symptoms.

L-Carnitine has also been found to have positive impacts on autistic children.

Other supplements to consider using are Vitamin B6, C and magnesium.

So…with this epidemic of autism, it’s helpful to know there are things a parent can do to help a child who has autism!
