So, do you really need to take vitamins? I’ll give you my answer up front and that is yes!
Now, let’s take a brief look at how I got there.
First of all, the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) as been set to only prevent diseases like beriberi and scurvy. The RDAs are not set for your reaching optimum levels of health and wellness.
You may not realize it but many of the current RDAs were set as far back as 80 years ago, and others were based on minimal research. Also, today drug companies can’t make money off of vitamins, so they don’t do research on their effectiveness.
Let me give you an example of one of these 80-year-old studies. A study by the Sorby Research Institute was conduced in 1944 on the amount of vitamin C needed to heal wounds. Sorby actually starved 20 volunteers before drip-feeding them controlled amounts of Vitamin C.
Researchers at the University of Washington recently found out that some of the volunteers suffered life-threatening emergencies during the study and many were left with long-term health problems.
The result was that Sorby set the amount of Vitamin C necessary for wound healing at 10 mg per day, which the World Health Organization still recommends.
These researchers at the U of W also found that the body actually need is 95 mg per day to heal wounds!
In addition, researchers are also finding that the amount of nutrients in our food has been declining and that even applies to organic foods, plus the amount you’d need to eat for optimum health would be absurd!
Let me give you an example of the amount by using Vitamin C. The RDA for Vitamin C is 90 mg per day. Researcher Dr. Emanuel Cheraskin developed his SONA formula, which stands for Suggested Optimal Nutrient Allowance. The SONA formula says you need 1,000 mg of Vitamin C per day.
Here’s where the absurdity comes in – to get to 1,000 mg of C per day, you would need to drink 11 glasses of pure orange juice. No one is going to drink 11 glasses of orange juice when you have to eat enough food to get all the other nutrients into your body.
The end result is you’d need to do nothing else but eat all day (if you could) to get enough food into your system.
Thus, the need for taking Vitamins so you can reach your optimum level of health and wellness.
Taking Vitamins is better than an insurance policy since you only collect on your policy when you die and it’s not even you, it’s your beneficiaries. So, taking Vitamins may keep you healthy much longer, too!
