Interval training is where you do high intensity exercises for a very short period of time followed by a few minutes of lighter activity.
Researchers studied a group of healthy sedentary older adults who were 70-plus years old. They trained three times a week for 38 minutes.
After 12 weeks, the group experienced significant weight loss, their cardiac output increased, their resting hear rate decreased by 10 beats per minute and they experienced a 12% drop in systolic blood pressure and a 9% reduction diastolic blood pressure.
So…for not a lot of time invested everyone can get great benefits from doing interval training.
